Plagiarism is presenting someone else’s work as your own. In a devotional context it carries a second injury beyond the legal one: it misrepresents the tradition by obscuring who actually said what.
This policy covers everyone who publishes here: Aniruddha Dāsa, any future contributor, and every member who posts in the community.
What is not allowed
- Reproducing a copyrighted translation, purport or commentary, in whole or in part, without permission.
- Rewording an existing translation and presenting the result as an independent one.
- Using a machine to paraphrase copyrighted text in order to disguise its source.
- Presenting a traditional account, a modern author’s idea, or another teacher’s framing as original work.
- Citing a verse or a quotation that has not been checked against the source.
The checks that run before publication
These are built into the publishing system rather than left to memory.
- Every text block must declare its source type before it can move out of draft.
- Any block marked as a direct quotation must have a citation and a rights status; without both, publication is blocked.
- Verse references are resolved against the scripture database. A reference that does not resolve is flagged.
- Long verbatim passages are detected and held for a human decision.
- Every published page keeps a full revision history: who wrote it, who reviewed it, and what changed.
In the community area
Member posts are the likeliest route for copyrighted material to arrive on this site, so the same checks apply there. Long quoted blocks are held for review before appearing, and members can report a post as copied. Repeatedly posting copyrighted material will cost you posting rights.
If you believe we have infringed your work
Write to us with the page address, the work you believe was copied, and how to verify your ownership. We will review it promptly, and we will take material down while we do so rather than after we finish. We would far rather remove a page than argue about one.
